Last year you and professor ‘J.J.’ Jackson collaborated to create about 10 Boot Camps in an effort to communicate ‘social entrepreneurship’ and open minds among Orange County’s economically challenged and underrepresented groups. OC has a long history of giving back to those in-need. By way of your leadership, you gave those folks more than a handout. You gave them a hand up!

I watched you smile, greet, thank, and offer encouraging words to each individual who attended. Your sincere interest in the other person added incalculable value to the entire boot camp process time after time. You are amazingly approachable and down to earth…. a very nice compliment to the high-quality content and format that
you helped provide.

A Public Tribute to Dr. Cathleen Greiner on Her Retirement

Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Community,
It is with immense admiration and deep affection that I extend my heartfelt congratulations to my dear friend, Dr. Cathleen Greiner, on her well-earned retirement and the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her remarkable journey.
 
Cathleen’s career as a college educator, leader, and advocate for women’s rights has left an indelible mark on countless lives. Growing up on a working ranch in central Oregon, she carried with her the resilience, work ethic, and visionary spirit that would define her extraordinary career in higher education and entrepreneurship.
 
As the founding director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at North Orange County Community College District, Cathleen championed social entrepreneurship and economic opportunity for disinvested communities, students, and the regional workforce. Her unwavering dedication helped create innovative pathways for aspiring entrepreneurs, ensuring that education and business development were accessible to all.
 
Together, we have had the privilege of partnering on over a dozen startup bootcamps, working to empower individuals with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to pursue their dreams. Cathleen’s ability to build bridges between education and business, her strategic leadership, and her commitment to networking with community partners have shaped the way institutions respond to evolving workforce needs.
 
Beyond her professional accolades, Cathleen is a world traveler, a thought leader, and a passionate advocate for the future of work, the gig economy, AI, and automation. She has consistently been at the forefront of conversations that matter—helping individuals prepare for academic and workplace success in an ever-changing world.
 
But more than anything, Cathleen is my best friend, my confidant, and my soulmate. Her generosity of spirit, boundless wisdom, and unwavering support have enriched my life in ways words cannot fully capture. I love and cherish her deeply, and I know that many of you feel the same.
 
Cathleen, as you step into this new chapter, may it be filled with joy, adventure, and all the incredible opportunities you so richly deserve. You have given so much to others—now it’s time for the world to give back to you.
