Cathleen has had a truly profound and lasting impact on my career and life. I am endlessly grateful for her belief in me and the incredible opportunities she provided.

In July 2003, she took a chance on me, allowing me to become a Research Analyst at National University. At just 23 years old, fresh out of UConn, and having just moved across the country to San Diego, I was both eager and uncertain about what lay ahead.

Cathleen’s unwavering support, guidance, and leadership made all the difference. The years we worked together were nothing short of magical. Her confidence in me gave me the courage to grow, and her generosity—whether it was the UConn tie she gifted me after UConn won the NCAA championship or the thoughtful thank-you card with a crisp $100 bill after a fantastic year—left a lasting impression.

These gestures weren’t just about appreciation; they reflected the kind of leader she is—thoughtful, inspiring, and deeply invested in those around her. I carry the lessons I learned from Cathleen with me every day. She shaped my understanding of what it means to be an exceptional leader, and I know that I would not be where I am today without her mentorship and encouragement.

Cathleen, I am forever grateful for you and cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for me.

Even though we haven’t known each other for very long, I felt an instant connection when we met.
