December 18th | The Countdown to Christmas
By Cynthia Kirkeby
December 18th—seven days to go,
The air feels crisp, and excitement grows.
I see the lights, strung high and bright,
They twinkle and shimmer in the cool winter night.
The smell of pine fills our cozy room,
Mixed with chocolate and cinnamon too.
The fire crackles, it’s warm on my skin,
While snowflakes land softly, seen from within.
I hear the soft laughter from family nearby,
And the sweet sound of carols that make my heart fly.
The taste of peppermint is still on my tongue,
A flavor of magic since I was young.

I feel the wonder, so thick in the air,
As if Christmas itself is already there.
Each sense is alive with the season’s delight,
And fills me with joy on this magical night.
