A Gift Just for You
By Cynthia Kirkeby
’Twas four days ‘til Christmas, and up at the Pole,
Santa was checking his Naughty-Nice scroll.
He smiled when he saw your name in bright gold,
“The Nice List this year? That never gets old!”
The elves gathered ’round, their tools in their hands,
Ready to follow his every command.
“For someone so kind, with a heart full of cheer,
We’ll craft something special to bring them this year.”
They searched through the workshop, with giggles and chatter,
Debating and planning what gifts truly mattered.
“A toy?” said one elf. “Or something that’s red?”
“Maybe a bike or a Red Ryder Sled?”
Santa just chuckled and stroked his white beard,
As some of the elves sang “Christmas is Near”
“Make it fun and unique, full of laughter and light,
A gift full of sparkles on Christmas Eve night!”
The hammers went tapping, the ribbons were curled,
The elves made the gift that would brighten your world.
And when it was finished, Santa gave it a peek,
And his eyes twinkled brighter than they had all this week.

“This is the one,” he declared with a grin,
“A treasure so perfect, it glows from within.”
He wrapped it up snug in paper and bows,
And into his sleigh, your precious gift goes.
On Christmas morning, when you find it with glee,
Know it was chosen just for you, thoughtfully.
For kindness and joy make the world shine so bright,
As Santa reminds us each Christmas Eve night!
