"Despicable Me 4" is part of the beloved animated franchise that was released on July 3, 2024. Directed by Chris Renaud and co-directed by Patrick Delage, this film continues the adventures of Gru, Lucy, and their daughters—Margo, Edith, and Agnes—alongside their newest family member, Gru Jr. In this Despicable Me adventure, Gru faces a new nemesis from his past: Maxime Le Mal, voiced by Will Ferrell. Maxime harbors a longstanding grudge against Gru for stealing his thunder during their school days and has transformed himself into a powerful cockroach-themed villain. With the help of his girlfriend Valentina (Sofía Vergara), Maxime escapes from prison and plots to turn Gru Jr. into a human-cockroach hybrid as part of his revenge scheme. The story kicks off with Gru attending a reunion at his old school, Lycée Pas Bon, where he encounters Maxime. After a series of comedic and chaotic events, Gru and his family are forced to go into witness protection in the suburbs. As they navigate their new lives, they must also deal with Maxime's relentless pursuit. The film features an impressive voice cast that includes Steve Carell returning as Gru, Kristen Wiig as Lucy Wilde, and Miranda Cosgrove as Margo. Newcomers like Joey King join the ensemble as Poppy Prescott, an aspiring villainess who lives next door to Gru's family and adds an exciting twist to the plot.
