February 5th | Super Bowl Party Menu
By Cynthia Kirkeby
Trying to prepare to a large group of people coming over for the Super Bowl can seem daunting. However, there are a number of things you can prepare that will make it much simpler.
Each year my family hosted a HUGE New Year Day Football Party that lasted from noon to late into the evening. This is what we would put out to feed the troops.
Nibbles
- Chips and Dips
- Assorted chips (potato chips, tortilla chips).
- Dips: Check out our 4 easy dips for your chips
- Veggie Platters – Pick up a ready-made platter or make your own with carrots, celery, olives, sliced bell peppers, broccoli, and a small bowl of ranch dressing.
Main Proteins for the Super Bowl
- Sliced Roast Beef – Served warm, seasoned with garlic and herbs.
- Tip: The best cuts of meat for roast beef include the bottom round rump roast, chuck roast, and tri-tip, of course the Chateaubriand tenderloin roast is also an excellent choice.
- Whole Roasted Turkey – Pop a turkey into the oven in the morning and it will be ready for game time. Moist and flavorful, carved for sandwiches or plated servings.
- Tip: Keep it simple. Wash the turkey, remove the neck and other organs, and slow roast it at 325 degrees. For a touch of sweetness, stuff It with cranberries, raspberries, blueberries, or any other berries you have available. Mixing the berries with cooked rice makes a tasty additional side.
- Potato Rolls – Soft and fluffy, these rolls are perfect for making mini sandwiches.
- Party Tip: You can do one or both of the proteins, depending on the size of your party. We used to do 2 turkeys and 3 roast beef. (It was a bash!)
Sandwich Fixings for the Super Bowl
- Condiments- Horseradish sauce, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, and barbecue sauce.
- Sliced cheese – Swiss, cheddar, and provolone.
- Toppings – Lettuce, sliced tomatoes, pickles, and onions.
Super Bowl Sides
- Potato Salad – Classic style with mustard dressing and crunchy celery.
- Coleslaw – Creamy and tangy, perfect for pairing with sandwiches or as a side
- Tip: Costco, Smart & Final, and other warehouse grocery stores sell large containers of premade potato salad and coleslaw that you can pick up and serve in batches to keep it fresh on the buffet table.
Additional Hot Options for Game Day
- Buffalo Wings – Served with blue cheese dressing and celery sticks.
- Meatballs – Tossed in a sweet and tangy barbecue sauce.
- Mac and Cheese – Rich, creamy, and topped with crispy breadcrumbs.
- Tip: All of these are great to put into small crock pots
Desserts
- Chocolate Cake – Chocolate is always
- Brownies – Fudgy and satisfying, with or without nuts.
- Football-Themed Sugar Cookies – Shaped and decorated like footballs, helmets, or jerseys.
Beverages
- Non-Alcoholic – Lemonade, iced tea, soda, and sparkling water.
- Alcoholic (Optional) – Beer, spiked punch, and a DIY cocktail station (margaritas or whiskey-based drinks).
Party Tip: Enlist friends to bring and item on your list. Chips and dip, desserts, veggie platters and drinks are the easiest to assign. If for some reason they don’t show up, it’s not a deal breaker.
