"The Brutalist" tells the story of László Tóth (Adrien Brody), a Hungarian-Jewish architect who survives the Holocaust and immigrates to the United States in 1947 with his wife, Erzsébet. He seeks to rebuild their legacy and contribute to the burgeoning modern landscape of America. A wealthy industrialist, Harrison Van Buren, commissions László to design a grand modernist monument, offering him the American dream. This project becomes the most ambitious of László's career, taking him and Erzsébet to monumental heights and devastating lows as they navigate the challenges of post-war America. The film explores themes of ambition, generational trauma, and the immigrant experience, highlighting the struggles and triumphs of creating lasting art in a new world.
